I will be working with Rep.

approach to school safety. I, like Rep.

training to be a school protector. Or, possibly retired police officers that

I wanted to take just a moment and respond to your email
concerning Gun Control, Gun Rights, Second Amendment issues etc.

Please know that as far as I am concerned there is no
wavering on the Second Amendment. In my opinion the Second Amendment
allows us as US Citizens to protect ourselves, our families and our
property. It allows us to have a militia if this country were to be
invaded and specifically gives us the right to bear arms to keep our own government
in check if deemed necessary.

Limiting us, as Americans, access to guns in general or to
specific guns and ammunition is a blatant affront to the Constitution of the
United States and specifically – the Second Amendment.

Now, is there work to be done – most certainly – but we
need to focus on what needs to be done and what will make a difference.
Our national and state mental health programs need to be examined closely and
changes made where appropriate. We need to reexamine the reasons we declare
different areas “gun free” zones. Does it make sense to announce that our
schools and our theaters are “gun free” zones and then NOT expect those areas
to be targeted?

Recently I had an individual verbally reprimand me for
using the statement “common sense” – but I believe that we need to apply common
sense to these situations. If you are a criminal or suffering from mental
health issues and you determine you want to hurt someone are you going to go to
the local police station where you know there are people who protect themselves
with firearms? I think not – Common Sense tells you to find an area where
there are no guns allowed.

I believe there is much work to be done in order to deter
individuals from harming themselves and others with any weapons – guns being
the main topic of discussion at this time. It horrifies me to think of
what happened in Connecticut at the school and in theater in Colorado – but
limiting law abiding American Citizens access to firearms is not the answer.

There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of this
company, and more specifically, your job. As you know, the economy has changed
for the worse and presents many challenges. However, the good news is this: The
economy doesn't pose a threat to your job.

What does threaten your job however, is the changing political landscape in
this country. Of course, as your employer, I am forbidden to tell you whom to
vote for - it is against the law to discriminate based on political
affiliation, race, creed, religion, etc.

Please vote for who you think will serve your interests the best. However, let
me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help you decide what is in
your best interest. First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts
employers against employees, you have to understand that for every business
owner there is a back story.

This back story is often neglected and overshadowed by what you see and
hear. Sure, you see me park my Mercedes outside. You saw my big
home at last years Christmas party. I'm sure all these flashy icons of luxury
conjure up some idealized thoughts about my life. However, what you don't see
is the back story.

I started this company 12 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 300 square foot
studio apartment for 3 years. My entire living space was converted into an
office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the
way, would eventually employ you.

My diet consisted of Ramen Pride noodles because every dollar I spent went back
into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a defective
transmission. I didn't have time to date. Often times, I stayed home on
weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was
married to my business -- hard work, discipline, and sacrifice.

Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a modest
$50K a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived
in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. Instead of hitting
Nordstrom's for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the
Goodwill store extracting any clothing item that didn't look like it was
birthed in the 70's.

My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however,
did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business --- with a vision
that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my
friends supposedly had.

So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9 am, mentally check in at
about noon, and then leave at 5 pm, I don't. There is no "off" button
for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to
yourself. I unfortunately do not have the freedom. I eat, ****, and
breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no
weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is attached to me like
a 1 day old baby.

You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden -- the nice house, the
Mercedes, the vacations... You never realize the back story and the sacrifices
I've made. Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the
right decisions and saved his money, have to bail out all the people who
didn't.

The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same
luxuries that I earned and sacrificed a decade of my life for. Yes,
business ownership has its benefits but the price I've paid is steep and not
without wounds. Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing
you, is starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me tell
you why:

I am being taxed to death and the government thinks I don't pay enough. I have
state taxes. Federal taxes. Property taxes. Sales and use taxes. Payroll taxes.
Workers compensation taxes. Unemployment taxes. Taxes on taxes. I have to hire
a tax man to manage all these taxes and then guess what? I have to
pay taxes for employing him. Government mandates and regulations and all the
accounting that goes with it, now occupy most of my time. On Oct 15th, I wrote
a check to the US Treasury for $288,000 for quarterly taxes. You know
what my "stimulus" check was? Zero. Nada. Zilch.

The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the guy who
has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over 2,200,000 people per
year with a flourishing business? Or, the single mother sitting at home
pregnant with her fourth child waiting for her next welfare check?

Obviously, government feels the latter is the economic stimulus of this country.
The fact is, if I deducted (Read: Stole) 50% of your paycheck you'd quit and
you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? That's nuts. Who wants to get
rewarded only 50% of their hard work? Well, I agree which is why your job is in
jeopardy. Here is what many of you don't understand ... to stimulate the
economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Had suddenly government
mandated to me that I didn't need to pay taxes, guess what? Instead
of depositing that $288,000 into the Washington black-hole, I would have spent
it, hired more employees, and generated substantial economic growth. My
employees would have enjoyed the wealth of that tax cut in the form of
promotions and better salaries. But you can forget it now.

When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don't defibrillate and
shock his thumb thinking that will bring him back to life, do you? Or, do you
defibrillate his heart? Business is at the heart of America and
always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate it, not kill it. Suddenly,
the power brokers in Washington believe the mud of America are the essential
drivers of the American economic engine.

Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change you can
keep. So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes
are levied on me, or my company, my reaction will be swift and simple. I fire
you. I fire your co-workers. You can then plead with the government
to pay for your mortgage, your SUV, and your child's future. Frankly, it isn't
my problem anymore. Then, I will close this company down, move to another
country, and retire.

You see, I'm done. I'm done with a country that penalizes the productive and
gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be
destroyed, and with it, will be my citizenship.

While tax cuts to 95% of America sounds great on paper, don't forget the back
story: If there is no job, there is no income to tax. A tax cut on zero dollars
is zero. So, when you make decision to vote, ask yourself, who understands the
economics of business ownership and who doesn't? Whose policies will
endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the
one capable of saving your job. While the media wants to tell you "It's
the economy Stupid" I'm telling you it isn't.

If you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the economy; it will be at
the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country, steamrolled
the Constitution, and will have changed its landscape forever. If that happens,
you can find me in the South Caribbean sitting on a beach, retired, and with no
employees to worry about.

Here's how I understand things as of right now:
About a week ago the US military attacked an estate that housed Osama and killed him. Tonight the results of the DNA identity was confirmed to be that of Osama Bin Laden. A few hours after the announcement another report came out stating Osama has been buried at sea.
It just doesn't feel right. So many reports of Osamas death have been printed from so many sources since 2001 and now we hear from Obama at a time when his popularity is very weak and he has announced he will be running for re-election. Great timing!
So the question is out there: Has Osama been dead all along and the announcement is intended as a boost to Obamas election bid? Or has it just happened and and the US dumped the body ASAP to keep other things secret. The body dump is just too soon. Why dump it just hours or less after the announcement? What's the point? No, I don't trust Obama. How can you trust a man that spent millions of dollars keeping his birth certificate private and then releases it with seemingly nothing out of the ordinary about it? He intentionally creates suspicion and then we are supposed to forget that?
Now Osama is dead and the body dumped? What is going on that needs so much misdirection? The Cheezerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15127053345950370869noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9914948.post-56585936166328587442011-04-21T20:37:00.000-07:002011-04-21T21:47:58.781-07:00Ugly Drum SmokerI have been wanting to build a smoker or BBQ for quite a long time but they seemed expensive. Bricks are permanent and I rent so that isn't gonna work well. I don't have a welder so making a 55 gallon barrel BBQ is kinda difficult and cutting one in half can be quite a chore. Not to mention getting the straight line.
Then I discovered the UDS. A 55 gallon drum that retains its shape and sits on its butt. No cutting! I searched the web for instructions and found The Q Joint and it includes pictures, instructions and a parts list. Pretty cheap to get going over all.
You don't have to go all out and you can buy cheap if you need to and improve later. You don't even have to paint it! But I strongly encourage you to burn out your barrel with high heat. The exterior paint will burn off and it will stink. The interior seal should burn off as well. Some guys go so far as to sand the interior down to bare metal. We'll see where I end up. I burned it pretty good and I dread having to stick my body inside that drum and sanding.

I got this drum for $15!

Picked up some materials from Lowes and my buddy and I started drilling and attaching parts

The red inside the barrel is the food safe coating and it has to be burned out

My Buddy Steve is a bit of a perfectionist Machinist and that's a good thing. The build took about a week off and could be done in just a weekend if you don't spend too much time on the fine details. But details make it look damn good without looking like you spend a grand. It also helps to have a metal guy doing most of the work. without Steve this build wouldn't look quite so nice.
Also check out The BBQ Bug
There are hundreds of pages out there with info and pics. There are some very good sites out there that are informational and help keep us all legal. The problem is, the Constitution gives us the right to bear arms. Any law restricting that right flies in the face of the constitution. Many people may disagree with that blunt statement. But think about it. The 2nd amendment guarantees us the right. There was no exceptions or exemptions.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The above link has a "note" that goes a bit into discussion about the altering of the 2nd Amendment. I haven't read it all but what I did see, I'm not a fan.

Cornell University Law School has a little to say about it too.

But I live in Oregon and want to be sure I don't give anyone a reason to arrest me. Here are a few more links to read. Be legal. Carry Legal. Defend your right.

www.opencarry.org

Oregon Gun Rights
The Cheezerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15127053345950370869noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9914948.post-50236494207913518122010-12-04T12:00:00.000-08:002010-12-04T12:29:12.240-08:00Dutch Brothers coffeeI love Dutch Brothers coffee stands. There are 2 in my town and they have great staff, great service and great coffee every single time I go there. I go there way too often.
This time of year you start seeing window painting on businesses. You see winter scenes, "holiday" decor. The DB I frequent also has window painting. It's Rudolf the red nosed reindeer with the word balloon saying "Happy Holidays!". I have issue with this. Rudolf is a Christmas character. If you are going to use Christmas characters, then say Merry Christmas!
This is kinda a thing with me. And I'm not silent about it. I tip more when someone says Merry Christmas. I go out of my way to say Merry Christmas when someone says happy holidays. So I wrote an email to the the DB headquarters via their website. I got the greatest response ever!
<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:worddocument> I was strongly motivated a few years back but seem to have lost it. Some things have changes, career, time, family and facebook.
Yeah, facebook seems to have stolen a lot of time from independent bloggers and redirected us to "social networking". Isn't the internet already "social networking"? Oh well. Now that I think about it, isn't facebook just AOL recreated? Most of us make fun of those that have an AOL email address and can't imagine why people still subscribe. But then we join facebook and it's just AOL with a new User interface and name. Talk about going full circle. I started on AOL back in 1996 when that was pretty much the only option. Then I got a taste of the "real" internet and ran away from them. Seems that maybe they had a good business plan anyway. Not sure where they went wrong and facebook stepped in.
Well, I hope to return to blogging soon. There is so much happening in the world that needs to be talked about. We have a huge oil leak in the gulf coast, a US government that is hell bent on making us a socialist country, a congress that is hell bent on shutting down free speech and local politics all over the country going crazy to try and get back our constitutional rights while others try to take them away. We have a Mexican President telling America how to govern itself. What? Yeah, a 3rd world country full of corruption is trying to tell us how it's done. And our President is listening. So much going on! The district fixed the problems to the satisfaction of state monitors in 2006, but when the state checked again in 2009, the district had slipped back into some of its old ways.

Among the problems found in early 2009 and still not fixed to the state's satisfaction: Some Portland schools don't give English learners enough language support to learn the core subject matter for their grade level, and not every student is being taught English language development using research-backed techniques.

Assistant State Superintendent Colleen Mileham notified Portland in late September that the state would withhold federal funds, a step it rarely takes, to communicate how important it is to consistently serve English language learners well.

Schools across the state generally do a good job helping students progress through the early stages of speaking, reading and writing English, the state report says.

The problem occurs when schools try to move students to advanced and proficient levels so that they can exit the English as second language program. Helping students master complex verb tenses, idioms and advanced academic language is challenging, says Kim Miller, statewide coordinator of English as a second language programs.

Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, the state expects schools to get half their English language learners proficient within five years. For non-native English speakers, mastering academic language in math, science, health and literature, as required, is "really tough," Hinman says.

The state education department is supposed to require big changes in school districts that chronically fall short. If a district fails to succeed with its English learners for four straight years, federal law gives the state two options. It can require a district to change its "curriculum, program and methods of instruction" or it can withhold funding and require that educators responsible for the poor results be replaced.

Oregon mainly opts to require curriculum and teaching changes, says Jake Weigler, communication director for the agency. Portland is the only district ever to have its English proficiency funds withheld, he said.
<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:worddocument> <w:view>Normal</w:View> <w:zoom>0</w:Zoom> I have looked at the Libertarians, Republican and the Constitution Party. The Constitution Party seems to hold a majority of my values to heart. There are a few values I do not fully agree with but NO party exactly matches my beliefs. What to do? I will retain my registry as a Republican for voting purposes, in hopes that one day a TRUE Republican will return to be elected. Because the restrictions of voting in the primaries pretty much eliminates 3rd parties.

Our Country has lost its way and is in the process of eliminating out Constitution. what made this country great is the constitution. What is destroying this country is bastardization of the intent of the founding documents. The words are clear. The intent is clear. The founders knew government would take away the very rights they had written into the document if they were not specific.

Q:Is the Constitution Out of Date?

A: The Constitution was written to specifically define the powers granted (by the people)to the federal government. The powers enumerated in the Constitution, were set forth after grueling deliberation by the Framers who were living under the tyranny of British rule. The rights guaranteed under the Constitution dealt with basic rights that derive from "Natural Law" (i.e. God's Law) and those basics don't change over time regardless of how advanced technology or society becomes.

Natural law and unalienable rights are timeless.

The Founders knew that governments tend to become tyrannical if they have unchecked power which is why the basic freedoms of Life, Liberty and Property were codified as the framework of American liberty.

All of the rights mentioned in the Bill of Rights were specified because our Founding Fathers knew that each on would be necessary to reign in the central government. From freedom of speech, to the right to own guns, the right to a fair trial, the right not to be searched without a warrant, these enumerated guarantees stand the test of time because without each one, liberty would be compromised. Over the years the Constitution has been ignored and the problems our country faces are the direct result of allowing the federal government to have powers not granted to it by the Constitution. The question best asked is this: "Which amendment would you be willing to give up?"

Please read The Constitution Party platform

Read the Libertarian platform

Decide for your self.
I would link to the GOP and the DNC but neither party represents the platform the were founded on or the people they were elected to represent. That there is two teams? Why can't we all just get along and work together to dig our asses out of this deep hole we are ALL in."

And it got me thinking. What am I pissed off about? Who am I pissed off at? The answer is the elected officials of the United States. They are the ones that started this "them vs us" mentality. They are the ones that push the American people to take sides, and we eat it up! It is no longer about what side you agree with or disagree with. It is now about who will stomp on your values and morals less.
America is great because of our God given rights that government can't take away. But we have a government that is hell bent to do just that.

Democrats and Republicans in Washington DC are pushing thru legislation without knowing what they are agreeing to and refusing to listen to and interact with the people they are elected and paid to represent. We The People! I am angry that our children and our childrens children will be paying for the debt created in just the last 6 months alone. I'm angry that neither party stood up and said this is unconstitutional and illegal. I'm angry that racism in our government is only challenged when a white person commits it. It is intolerable from all people! I'm angry that our President has not defended America in a single speech in other counties but apologizes for our greatness. I am angry that I have to worry that my son will see the fall of America and the rise of communism or European socialism in America like that never seen before.

I'm angry that our national guard is hiring and training for internment camp personnel. I'm angry that I can't trust our government to do what is right for Americans and so many Americans are blind to it. I'm angry it has been like this for years and it is just now that Americans are standing up and getting angry in public, and it might be too late.

Our Democrat and Republican leaders are to blame for this. It is their job to protect our rights and represent us. To enforce the constitution and the Bill of Rights. To protect American land and people against enemies inside and out. To enforce the laws we have, not create so many that we loose our freedoms.

I am angry that the people of America don't realize that it is competition and the human element that drives the success of America. Because we are competitive and capitalism represents the true human drive. There are winners and losers. There are have and have not. There are smart people, dumb people and everything in between. There are people that will only be able to scrub gutters and others that will cure cancer. There are those that are truly in need of assistance and those that are just lazy.

This country was made great despite of political correctness and will be destroyed by it. We make our country strong by helping those truly in need and reprimanding the lazy for taking from them. We make this country great by being the best we can be and living with what we earn and not by demanding that those that worked smarter or harder, to support us or share what they earned. The wealthy have always been envied. They have always had more then the poor and they have always been the creator of jobs and helping others become wealthy.

Our government is becoming or has become what our founding fathers tried to protect us from. Our government has forgotten its place. We the people have forgotten their place. It is time the government remembered who we are and what they are supposed to do. It is time We The People stop blaming each other and started holding the elected official accountable.

If a bill is so complicated a lawyer can't figure it out and interpret it, chances are it is dangerous and needs to be scraped. If our elected officials have created so much chaos in the way the system works, then they need to be eliminated and the system reworked. Return to the simple wording. Make the bill about one thing. Do not reference 50 other documents from different branches of the government to bury the true meaning of the bill. State simply the result desired and the means to get there.

I will continue to be pissed at "the liberal" because that is who I see as supporting huge government and squashing the rights of the people. I do not believe in being politically correct to spare the feelings of a few while the rights of many are stomped. I will not be quiet and watch the people be marched to the gas chamber. I will remain pissed at the republican party for not standing up and demanding the laws of this great nation be respected. I will remain pissed that the people we elected to defend us have only found ways to fatten their wallets at the detriment of We The People! I will be vocal when I see an injustice.

There is a revolution coming. It will be bipartisan. When else in history have you seen so many people join together to confront our politicians about the job they aren't doing? Never before have conservatives stood up to be heard so loudly or in such mass. When politicians pay people to fill the meetings in their support, to make it look like they have more support than opposition, they need to be taken down. when the people are locked out of these discussions because they are "being disruptive" but aren't allowed access in any other way, the politicians need to be taken down. Next election, all of these self righteous, egotistical blowhards need to be unemployed and stripped of their golden benefits and life long salary. They need to be like the rest of us, you get fired and it all goes away. They are us! They were hired by us and need to respect us!

So maybe my brother is right, maybe we all need to get along. The way I see it, we can all get along just fine when all Americans are treated equal and politicians remember we are their boss. Stop the corruption! Stop the self designated royalty! Take back our government together! Enough us vs them mentality and find the actual balance that made this country great.

We need to join together and take back our country. We are Americans. Our ancestors fought for our rights to be a free country. To be free of socialism and communism. To be a capitalist nation. where those that work hard get ahead and those that don't, don't. A country where the government is intended for infrastructure and defense, not welfare and control. We tell the government what to do, not the other way around. They represent us, not themselves. The Cheezerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15127053345950370869noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9914948.post-32353743631377812342009-08-07T11:03:00.000-07:002009-08-07T11:28:36.157-07:00The clunker problemThe cash for clunkers program is flawed in so many ways, I can only hit a few at the moment.
We are destroying the opportunity for our young and lower paid citizens to own an affordable vehicle.

When the vehicles are traded in, they are crushed. This removes the low cost used cars available to purchase and sell. It eliminates the used car industry effectively shutting them down, kills the u-pull it style junk yards and adding to our unemployed. Looking for a cheap car to get to and from work or school? Looking for that cheap car as a first car for the kids? Need an older car to teach your kids or yourself how to work on a car? They will soon not exist. Obama is putting a huge wall between the haves and have nots.

Not everyone can afford a car payment and even less should. The way to financial freedom is to live within your means and that includes owning an affordable vehicle for transportation. Crushing our used vehicles is not the answer.

what really happens to those cars? They are "crushed whole and shipped to china for recycling". You betcha! It has been reported in Europe that many of the cars are being resold in Africa. But even if they are crushed and recycled, it isn't happening in the United States. We are shipping them to a country with the worst environmental controls, to melt them down and resell them to us in other forms.

Why aren't the vehicles being stripped of usable parts and separated out into differing recyclable parts? Why are we allowing a country with horrible environmental controls do anything? It has been proven the air pollution from china flows over the ocean and into the central United states and contributes to the air quality damage. America can and will recycle safely and be less environmental damaging. It would also create jobs in America. This could be a win for American, but instead it is a loss in every aspect.

Americans will see a huge amount of these new cars purchased under this program be repossessed. More Americans will have damaged credit an increased feeling of failure. That will lead to a bigger dependency on government and that's what it is all about.
If you are forced out of your cars and on to public transportation, the government will control when and where you go. Think about it. They are already pushing for tracking devices in our cars for tax reasons. The Gov now owns OnStar. You think they wanted GM? They wanted OnStar and its access. Now they have it.The If they fail to steal your gun, they will try to steal your ammunition.

"People would be required to forfeit all personally-owned non-encoded ammunition. After a certain date, it would be illegal to possess non-encoded ammunition. Gun owners possess hundreds of millions of rounds of ammunition for target shooting, hunting and personal protection. Consider that American manufacturers produce 8 billion rounds each year.

Reloading (re-using cartridge cases multiple times) would be abolished. There would be no way to correspond serial numbers on cartridge cases, and different sets and quantities of bullets.

People would be required to separately register every box of "encoded ammunition." This information would be supplied to the police. Most states do not even require registration of guns. Each box of ammunition would have a unique serial number, thus a separate registration.

Private citizens would have to maintain records, if they sold ammunition to anyone, including family members or friends.

The cost of ammunition would soar, for police and private citizens alike. The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturing Institute estimates it would take three weeks to produce ammunition currently produced in a single day. For reason of cost, manufacturers would produce only ultra-expensive encoded ammunition, which police would have to buy, just like everyone else."
The Cheezerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15127053345950370869noreply@blogger.com0
